Man found dead with head wound

LANGKAWI: A tenant of an apartment here was found sprawled in a pool of blood with what is believed to be bullet wound to the head.

The dead man was identified as K. Mohan, 31, who had moved into the apartment at Ayer Hangat here on Sept 29 with another man and a woman.

Mohan, from Taman Yayasan in Kamunting, Perak, is believed to have been dead for over 24 hours when his body was found at about 9.30am yesterday.

Kedah CID chief Asst Comm Zakaria Ahmad said police investigators found a wound at the back of the victim's head but have yet to confirm what had caused the injury.

He said, however, a gunshot mark was found on a wall in the room.

ACP Zakaria said a 69-year-old woman handed a bag containing a pistol and several other items at the Langkawi police headquarters here at about 4pm.

He said the police are checking if the pistol was the one used in the room.

Other items in the bag include several handphones and a laptop.

ACP Zakaria said Mohan and his two friends had booked the apartment unit for a month.

The police are looking for the two persons and a married couple from here to facilitate investigations.

ACP Zakaria said a worker at the apartment told the police that he had called the room several times but no one answered.

“So, he went to have a look and found the front door partially opened. He walked in and found the body in one of the rooms,” he said, adding that police classified the case as murder.

Mohan's body has been sent to the Langkawi Hospital for post-mortem.
